Today was DaDa's birthday and we went to Kiddie Park.
Kiddie Park has been around since 1925. It is not a fabulous and clean park. What we mean by that is that it is very old and worn. Everything is not sparkly and that makes it look old and dirty. There was no trash or graffiti around just a whole lot of fun!
Kelly already driving!
Kelly loves motorcycles. We started off with the coin operated rides.
Kelly got to put the coin in herself on this one.
Here is Dada showing Kelly how to use the stick. She went pretty high for a little kid.
Games to check out.
DaDa explaining the ticket situation to Kelly.
This was the first ride Kelly picked. "Lel Lo" (Yellow) she said she wanted to get on.
Some of these rides sound like they are 100 years old, very loud!
Taking a break. This bench is scaled down for its patrons.
The boats weren't running as of yet.
The little basket ferris wheel was down.
We got there early and had the park pretty much to ourselves.
Here is Kelly getting in the School Bus. It was so funny. The bus was going so slow the ride operator physically got out there and pushed the bus.
Kelly went over and stood by the ride operator as soon as she figured out who was in charge of the rides.
MaMa and Kelly having fun on the 1918 Herschell Spillman carousel. All the horses were hand carved, some have been restored, others have not. It's hard to find people to work on these works of art.
As we spoke with the ride operator he shared with us that last week there was a family of four generations that had all been to Kiddie Park when they were kids.
Here are the kids in a "Lel Lo" flying saucer. Some rides require that your child be accompanied by an older child.
The ride operator told DaDa he could get on. This saucer never made it into the air, at least any higher than in this photo. DaDa said it was going pretty fast and Kelly was squashed up next to him.

Oh, what an awesome birthday you had! I sure wish we had been there to go on all those cool rides with you!
I hope your birthday was wonderful, DaDa...
DaDa notes that this wasn't about it being his birthday. This trip had been planned for months, but work hadn't allowed it until now...it just happened to fall on that day.
DaDa much prefers spending time with his family (rather than work), whatever the day may be!

Amusement parks are FUN, aren't they Kelly? What a neat way to spend DaDa's birthday, even if it wasn't meant to be his birthday celebration.
It was great to talk with you Sunday! How were the pork ribs? Save any for us?
