Mad Dash

Today we had an over extended day with too much to do and so we started by going to:

Here we are at the entrance waiting for N. and Angeline and her parents.

Meeting up with friends.
Still at the entrance. "We're at the entrance where are you? What would we do without our cel phones? Was that someone's home at one time? I will never complain about my small house again!

Kelly was on over load full of energy ALL DAY. She loved jumping off this old log.

We had a pic-nic lunch down on the river.

Walking down to the river we saw this big lizard looking thing hanging on the fence. Closer inspection proved it was an old tree stump with dead vines caressing it.

Here we are with N.

There were butterfly gardens almost everywhere you looked. Kelly made friends with this little boy who caught three different butterflies. Notice the cactus? we are in Texas you know.

We were impressed at how gracious he was at encouraging Kelly to hold a butterfly that he had caught (no prompting from his parents). Note: no butterflies were harmed.

There are many Monarchs visiting our area on their long migration.

What's she up to now?

We stopped at this shoe factory that had this marvelous old truck and other antique stuff as decorations and display.

On our way home we heard on the radio that a truck full of cattle had over turned. The DJ said the cattle round up was on its way (get it, cattle round up, we're in Texas), so we took another route. We pulled off the highway and saw a garage sale sign. MaMa said lets stop. Kelly was asleep, so MaMa went in. It was in one of those little malls lined up on the access road.

A young man came up to MaMa and showed him a poster explaining the sale. They were trying to raise money for some nuns to build their own convent in Mexico. All the merchandise was stuff we didn't need as MaMa was ready to ask if they would take a money donation she was handed a small bag and told to fill it up and pay $2.00.

So MaMa graciously put 3 pieces in and gave them $5.00. Then she asked (in Spanish) if the nuns would please come outside and give a blessing for Kelly. They were happy to and gave a prayer in Spanish.

DaDa was wondering if Kelly would wake up and be startled, but she woke up smiling at them. God Please help them. They have a long way to go and so DaDa gave MaMa more money and she went in and gave it to one of the nuns.

We try to be gracious and make a difference when we can and if we can.

What a lovely day (so jealous you're still wearing t-shirts!).

Can't wait to see some of that famous Texas sunshine in December when we visit!
