Kevin

It is hard to write this entry...

In January our friend Mary "Kevin" Finnigan was hit by a hit and run driver. Kevin went for her morning walk in her neighborhood. (There was not snow nor rain on the ground.) We've been to her home for parties. She lives in a nice neighborhood with sidewalks.

She walked out her front door and never came back home. She was found not too long after by the trash collectors. She was hit, run over, dragged and left.

We have many emotions for her husband of 26 years. They were always happy to see us and those are the kind of friends we like.

Kevin was a huge giver of her time to many worthy causes. An emergency meeting was held a couple of days after her death to try to decide what to do about all her duties and responsibilities. Many of our friends in the San Antonio Potters Guild stepped up.

Helping to serve soup.

Kevin helped with all aspects of our Empty Bowls event. She had a very uplifting positive attitude and was a wonderful leader.

(Here are a few of us at the Ethan Allen Artist show)

We being photographers at most of our functions started looking for photos of her. The one chosen to sit up front at her memorial was one that MaMa had taken a couple of years ago (the first pic of this entry). Her husband Paul said, "Thank you for the photo, most of the ones we had were out of focus or she was turning or something."

Here is Kevin at our meeting when she was President of the San Antonio Potters Guild getting ready to introduce our guest speaker, topic: the Silk Roads of China.

Kevin loved purple and teapots. She had just retired from her career as an educator with a specialty in teaching kids to read. She finally had the time to devote to what she wanted to do.

We have thought about Kevin and her husband Paul every day since her death, still with disbelief, wispy eyes, and that never ending lump in our throat.

We would have liked to have known Kevin for many many more years, but that was not to be.

Oh you guys, what a terrible loss, and what a terrible way to loose a friend.

Hit and Run drivers are cowards!

Wish I lived closer. I'm always glad to see you too.

Hugs.

So sorry. Very sad!

Joe recently lost a very dear friend/co-worker. They talked in the morning and by evening he was gone. We certainly know how you feel.

You guys are very special to us and we are very glad when we get to see you, wish it could be more often!

Thank you for that lovely tribute to Kevin! My favorite picture was the one in a brightly colored orange/yellow shirt and surrounded by her teapots and pottery made with such skill, and love.

I miss you too, Kevin! Rest in peace...
