(This is one of those posts from DaDa that is just words.)
A few weeks ago, DaDa came across a very good deal on a top-rated webcam, so we entered the world of Skype and video conferencing over the Internet. So far, we've had wonderful conversations with one of DaDa's nephews and two people from our travel group.
Kelly likes to interact with the person on the other end of the webcam conversation. A couple weeks ago, we were chatting with G. when Kelly started mimicking his actions....crossing his arms, putting his hands on his head, rubbing his belly. He lost her when he got to the "walk like an Egyptian" pose.
This past week we were chatting with K. and got onto the subject of kids books. So K. reached off screen to pull up a favorite of hers to show us. She turned it around to face the audience (us), holding it by the top and flipping the pages that way. (You've seen people do this when reading to a group of small kids). After seeing this, Kelly wiggled off DaDa's lap to get her book, flipped it around to face the camera, opened it up and held it up right in front of the camera for K. to see. It was one of those cute, untaught, never-done-before moments that wasn't photographed.
So last night we noticed G. online again and had another nice chat. (Yes, we did relay K's saying "hi." He said "hi" back.) Kelly now recognizes the Skype ringing sounds and comes running when she hears that. She enjoys seeing and interacting, and she's learned not to bonk her head on the screen when she kisses somebody on the other end of the virtual conversation.
Good times, happy times, etched in our memory.

Okay, you were able to teach Kelly to identify her Achilles Tendon, Clavical, and Gluteus Maximus before she was two, I'm sure you can teach her the "Walk Like an Egyptian" and several other poses before your next Skype session with G!
So glad you and G are staying in touch. Looking forward to getting Skype set up myself at some point. Maybe all our girls can connect that way in the future.
